On the day China abruptly launched joint military drills around Taiwan, Chairman Huang Kuo-chang attended a foreign press briefing to engage with international media.

Opening with “Why Taiwan Needs a Capable Second Homegrown Political Party,” he stressed that defending Taiwan against China (抗中保台) is indisputable. However, he cautioned that this idea should not be weaponized to deepen rifts within Taiwan. The TPP advocates for strengthening self-defense while asserting that freedom, democracy, and the rule of law remain Taiwan’s strongest defense.

Chairman Huang Kuo-chang also addressed Ko Wen-je’s case. He pointed out that, based on the indictment from the Taipei District Prosecutors Office, the evidence appears very weak, a view that is also shared by Presidential Advisor Hsieh Chang-ting from the DPP. Chairman Huang urged the judiciary to vindicate Ko Wen-je as soon as possible.
