【8天戳破「台美關係史上最好」，90天補考期賴政府莫再荒腔走板】
一、多國高層直通川普，賴政府仍靠社群平台單方面表態。目前已有多位國家元首與川普本人或其團隊直接通話，就關稅議題展開政治磋商，越南甚至派副總理抵美談判。而賴清德號稱台灣是「民主陣營堅定夥伴」，自己卻只能靠社群貼文與媒體投稿來「表達立場」，特殊管道的外交談判空轉，令人憂心。今天上午外交部長林佳龍被問到「台灣是透過哪個管道向美國提出談判要求？」林佳龍也跳針回覆「多元管道」或USTR，根本緩不濟急。顯然這麼多天了，賴政府該做的準備還是沒準備，以為32%關稅暫緩90天很長，還在多方「嘗試」，不謀又不動、虛耗台灣。
二、民進黨塑造的「台美關係史上最好」神話，被川普一夕打破。此次突襲式的貿易報復突顯出台美經貿關係缺乏明確保障，更反映出政府過度政治依賴，忽略產業風險。政府應運用這90天緩衝期，進行冷靜務實的政策盤整與行動。
三、錯把讓利當談判，錯將宣傳當外交。賴總統投書四大方向，乍看積極，實則等於提前把籌碼攤在桌上。外交與談判從來是利益交換，不是單方面承諾。無對價保證，只會進一步失衡。
四、談判要底氣，前提是內部要穩固。首先，民進黨應即刻停止大罷免造謠、撕裂社會的內耗作為，回到真正對產業與就業有益的方向。行政院週五將進行經濟衝擊專案報告，希望能見到完整的受影響產業清單、出口金額與就業衝擊評估模型，同時政府應先預擬轉型協助辦法與就業安定方案。
我們必須提醒賴政府：未來90天是國家策略的分水嶺。執政黨若仍用舊思維面對新危機，繼續陷於宣傳話術與空泛承諾，只會錯失談判節奏、削弱產業信心。在談判桌上爭取空間的同時，更應優先照顧國內受衝擊的產業與勞工。別讓農漁民與基層勞工的犧牲，成為執政黨口中最軟的一塊。

With just one announcement - Donald Trump's declaration to impose "reciprocal tariffs" on Taiwan - President William Lai's claim of "the best Taiwan-U.S. relations in history" was shattered. In response, Lai published an op-ed in Bloomberg on April 9th outlining four proposed countermeasures. Yet rather than reinforcing Taiwan's diplomatic position, the Taiwan People's Party(TPP) argues that the piece highlights the administration's strategic deficiencies and its repeated missteps.

World leaders have taken a proactive stance in dealing with Trump's policy announcements, leveraging direct communication channels and dispatching senior officials to the United States for urgent talks. Vietnam, for instance, sent its Deputy Prime Minister to Washington to engage in face-to-face negotiations.In stark contrast, Taiwan - despite branding itself as a "steadfast partner of the democratic camp" - has responded with tweets and op-eds. The absence of robust diplomatic dialogue is troubling. When asked about concrete efforts to initiate discussions with Washington, Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung(林佳龍) offered only vague references to "diverse channels" and the U.S. Trade Representative(USTR), signaling a lack of preparedness. With precious days slipping by, the administration appears to have mistaken the 90-day suspension of the 32% tariff as a grace period rather than an urgent countdown. This miscalculation risks squandering Taiwan's resources and credibility.

Trump's retaliatory tariffs have exposed a fundamental flaw in Taiwan's foreign policy: a reliance on perceived political closeness with the U.S. without securing tangible, structural guarantees in economic relations. The fallout demonstrates how vulnerable Taiwan's industries are in the absence of institutional safeguards. The government must seize this 90-day window to initiate a sober, strategic reassessment of its trade and diplomatic policies - and act decisively.
-Conflating Concessions with Strategy, Rhetoric with Diplomacy
President William Lai's four countermeasures may appear proactive on the surface, but in reality, they place Taiwan's cards on the table too early and too willingly. Effective diplomacy requires measured negotiation and strategic ambiguity, not unilateral concessions framed as gestures of goodwill. Without reciprocal assurances from the U.S., such moves risk deepening the imbalance in bilateral ties and weakening Taiwan's leverage.
-Confidence in Foreign Policy Starts with Domestic Stability
Diplomatic strength begins at home. The Democratic Progressive Party(DPP) must immediately halt divisive maneuvers - such as fanning the flames of recall rumors - and focus on policies that genuinely support industry, protect employment, and foster national unity. This Friday, the Executive Yuan(行政院) will present a special report assessing the economic impact of the tariffs. It must be comprehensive, detailing affected sectors, export losses, and employment forecasts. In tandem, the government should formulate actionable support programs for industry transformation and job retention.
The Next 90 Days: A Strategic Crossroads
The Lai administration is now at a pivotal juncture. If it continues to confront new geopolitical and economic challenges with outdated thinking and superficial messaging, it will forfeit key opportunities for negotiation, damage public confidence, and deepen industrial uncertainty. The priority must shift from self-congratulatory diplomacy to concrete, domestic-focused solutions.Farmers, fishermen, and grassroots workers must not become the casualties of rhetorical posturing. Their livelihoods cannot afford to be bargaining chips in a poorly executed foreign policy strategy. The time for symbolic gestures has passed - the next 90 days must be about results.
